The three traitors of Soul Society have brought chaos and havoc to their old home, making minds reel and spin. The Shinigami are already dealing with the Arrancar that were dispatched to the Material world, to complete tasks and missions for Sōsuke Aizen. Hollows have been coming and going, taking the souls needed to ease their suffering, until either Sōsuke or one of the Gotei Thirteen's shinigami comes to end it, creating another vassal for their expanding armies.

Left and right, more and more arrancar keep appearing in the material world. Many not on Sōsuke's orders. It appears that there are some vassals of his army that are not fairing well with his orders. They left him, causing a much bigger disturbance in the three realms. To make himself an even larger threat, Sōsuke Aizen has taken captives from the Material World that play an important part to the Seireitei, and even a few shinigami hostages as well.

The Quincy are expanding quickly as well, slaying as many hollows as they can, completely obliterating them from the three worlds. Some have sided with the Shinigami, helping them send the cursed souls to Soul Society, so that Aizen could not reach them in time. Others remained loyal to their hate for Shinigami, and the rest have sided with Aizen with his quest to sit on the throne of heaven.
