Tips:
- Don't try to draw too much attention to yourself by saying things like "Hey, I'm a newb here and this is so great I'm awesome!!!11" or anything along those lines. xDD You'll find your place here, so just relax and have fun.
- Think before you post. Ask yourself, "Is this question/post really necessary? Has it been discussed elsewhere?"
- Don't take it personally if you get bashed. It's a sad thing, but it happens to EVERYONE at some point or another. We try to prevent deliberate flaming as much as possible, but we can't be everywhere, so if it happens to you, don't feel bad, it's usually a way for desperate people to draw attention to themselves; don't hate them, pity them.
- Try to keep your grammar as correct as possible. A little chatspeak here and there is fine, but we want to be able to understand what you have to say and correct spelling and grammar does that, along with making you look like a more intelligent person.
- Be careful with your humor. Others might not find it funny and/or take offense to it. Also, your posts don't have a tone of voice, so it makes it extremely difficult to detect sarcasm, so try to avoid it as much as possible, unless your sarcasm is painfully obvious.
- Don't use gigantic images that stretch out the page.
- Be kind, rewind. xDD Just remember, the nicer you are to others, the nicer they'll be to you.
- Respect is something that's earned. Don't expect to be treated like the king of the universe after your first post. People here don't know you and the only way they'll get to know you is if you make an effort. If someone offers to answer any questions you have, take them up on their offer. Try PMing them and see what they have to say, You can even get to know fellow members this way. Don't hesitate to reach out and get to know everyone.
-Get active. It's important to really participate in threads. If there's a discussion going on, interject yourself into it. Don't simply make posts saying you agree or disagree; expand upon them with thoughts, opinions, and things to back them up. If you disagree with something, say so and start up a friendly discussion. It's what makes threads active and fun.
