If Avatar the Abridged series has taught us anything, it's that the writers of ATLA are dumb. xDDD With Sozin's comet, how can fire even exist in space? Furthermore, if it's made a of frozen water, why does it make the firebenders stronger? xDD Think about that.

That is funny, because it seemed like it was something that everybody forgot. I know I have did, but he was right. Why would it give firebenders strength? But you have to realize this is a show on Nickelodeon and Nick apparently thinks that kids do not care about science. That is my short answer to this question. However if you wish to have a debate about this question. I advise you to post this question on AvatarSpirit or Distant Horizon. I am not sure I know the answer, except maybe the fact it burns up in the atmosphere has something to do with it. It burns up and firebenders are able to control the comet because of the heat and fire. I don't know, just visit the sites I mentioned above for a more scientific debate. This debate is almost similar to the "Why Lava is bendable by Firebenders when it is mostly Earth?" debate. I guess that means if the Fire Nation ever experimented with space travel, then they will have to give up their bending for the quest for knowledge. I doubt that will ever happen though.

Even if it was because it burns up in the atmosphere, the Waterbenders a resource much more powerful, the ocean and moon. I don't think a lone comet would give them so much strength to become invincible. But then again, the show is about people who bend elements and the moon is a girl...so we can't expect to much reasoning.

Well continue to debate, it is really fun and it is what's going to keep this community live is by speculation, scientific debates, discussions, fanart, fanfiction, etc. It is truly amazing how many theories there are about how everything works in the Avatar world. A lot of which always leads to real world debates and discussions.

I surely hope that Avatar continues with new characters. At least I will know it isn't truly dead. And I have a feeling that the show will have to go though possible two new series before it gets media attention. Remember how many Star Trek had to go though in order to become popular.
