"All clear," Rian muttered as he looked down into the small village from the rooftops. Hours had passed since he had departed from his sister and her lover, and thus far, he could no longer sense them, much to his delight. He rose from his kneeling position, and the man then brushed off his pants before a black portal emerged from behind him. After turning over his shoulder and ensuring that no one was in sight, he entered the dark abyss and it disappeared into the night.
Outside of his sister's bedroom, the darkness that had consumed Takun's son appeared once again; the young man stepped out of the darkness into the dim hallway. Gently, he gave a knock upon their door, and after waiting for a moment or two, the young man opened the door of the room. The rays of moon were the sole source of light, and very quietly, Rian crept to the side of the bed where the constant sound of snoring filled the room. With a smug expression cemented onto his face, the young man lightly shook his sleeping sister; he was certain not to awake Vincent, who was beside her. After several minutes, the dark eyed woman woke from her slumber, and while half-asleep, she followed her brother into the hallway; the door was closed behind them.
"This had better be important," she groaned, rubbing her eyes. The woman rubbed the back of her neck to relieve tension. "I was sleeping considerably well, Rian."

Nodding, Takun's son crossed his arms as he leaned against the wall and stared at the floor. "My apologies, my beloved sister," he replied, full of sincerity. "But I have some serious matters to address. ...I-I felt Father's presence today. He was incredibly close to us. I think... I think he knows we're in Riyona." He swallowed and dared to not think about his father's extreme consequences.
Giving a shrug, Skye responded, "No matter, brother. I'll have you deal with him." The man's eyes winced at the very thought. He let out a depressing sigh as he looked up to his sister's face.
"Yes, yes, of course," he muttered slowly; his head drooped once again. "I'll do what you say, Skye."

Miyo's eyes gradually opened the next morning. Her face displayed little emotion at first, her eyes seemed to be fixated on the ceiling for no particular reason. She blinked rapidly, still staring, lost in thought. She appeared lost in the moment, like waking up and trying desperately to remember fragments of a dream you had mere minutes ago.
She wondered, "Is that what my life is going to be like now? Constantly wondering if he'll ever return? Endlessly trying to keep the pain I feel bottled up? For Koahan's sake, for my family's sake, for my sake, I can't go on like this."
Miyo let out a determined burst of breath as she sprang up in her bed, causing the blankets that covered her to slowly crawl down her chest. Miyo had never been much of a morning person, espcially when she didn't have Vincent to wake up with. A certain expression grew upon the woman's face that showed she was unsure of her own decision. She let out a sigh and shook herself lightly, causing a small burst of energy within herself. She finally drove herself to get out of bed and to the wooden floor of the house. She looked back at the disheveled bed and groaned, forcing herself to make it. After her chore was complete, she walked over to the doorway and glared back at the empty room. A slightly hopeless smile appeared on her face and she exited into the hallway.

Seeing her sister leave her bedroom, Kohana, seated on the couch in the living room, sprung from her seat, and she greeted her sister with an unexpected embrace. "G'morning, Miyo!" the girl greeted with a warm tone in her voice; her cheerful self had been restored, for the moment, that is.
Smiling and raising a brow, the older sister couldn't help but utter a laugh as she returned the sign of affection. "Are you alright, Kohana?" the woman joked. "You're usually not a morning person, you silly girl."
Releasing herself from his sister's grasp, the child gave a shrug as she heard her stomach growl from hunger. "I'm hungry," she grumbled, looking to the other resident's bedroom doors. "Oh, maybe I should wake up everyone. Yeah, we'll all have breakfast together!" Kohana then looked to the door immediately to her right, Tidus and Naomi's room, and as she reached for the door's handle, she was stopped by her sister.
"I think we should let them sleep a little longer," the woman quickly blurted, sporting a sheepish smile. "They were up all night talking. They must be really tired. Hey, why don't you wake up Kikyo and Jiro?" The child nodded with bright contentment and ran down the hallway to the two teenagers' room leaving her older sister to prepare breakfast, the most demanding meal of the day.

Releasing a peaceful sigh, Naomi stretched her arms as she wearily awakened. She turned her head, happily reminded of her lover's presence. The mage began to shift over in the bed, lying her head upon the man's bare chest. Tidus lightly gasped and arose from his slumber.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you," Naomi stated while sitting up in the bed, pulling the sheets up as well to keep covered.
"It's fine, I'm glad to be up now," he began with a grin, "More time I get to spend with you."
The man moved in and placed a passionate kiss on the young woman's neck, causing her to slightly laugh. After he was done, he pulled back and the two gazed deep into each other's eyes for a moment. Naomi's face began to change into one of sadness; the thoughts that often clouded her mind just wouldn't go away.
"What is it?" Tidus asked with concern, placing a hand on his girlfriend's cheek. "You can tell me."
The woman paused, lowering her head with a sense of shame. She stared at the covers for a long time before finally returning to an upright position. She stared directly at her love, her expression now very serious. She answered, "I think it's time we talk about her."

Tidus flopped back down onto the bed, letting out a weary sigh and squinting his eyes shut. He didn't want to talk about that of all things, especially now. Things had just started to become good between the two over the last month and Tidus didn't want to shatter that with thoughts of her. He knew the day would come where they would have to talk it out, but why did it have to be today? He sat upright once more and turned his attention back to the young woman sitting next to him with her head hanging low.
Finally, he began, "You're right, I should tell you. Her name is-- was Yuna. She was the summoner I accompanied in Spira who...was also my first love."
Naomi's heart sank a little and for a moment she regretted bringing the subject up in the first place. She cleared her throat and urged on, "I thought as much..."
"But I swear, that's in the past, now I'm with you!" Tidus interjected, placing his hands on the saddened woman's shoulders. "I was afraid this would happen. Listen, for what ever reason these feelings I have for you were developed I still love you! In my heart, you and I both know that to be true. For a while I was concerned what this meant...my being here and the connection I had with you, but now all I care about is not losing you. I thought maybe I could just push it all aside, since I wasn't sure if you picked up on the same things I did...but now I see that's true."
Naomi fought the urge not to cry, so desperate for the distance between the two to close once and for all. She added, "I had the same feeling from the start...this vague hint that these feelings might not be mind, like someone else's. But...I know now, just like you said, that what we have is real, no matter what. But...that's not all. I think it's more than just feelings...it's like existence."
"What do you mean?" Tidus questioned, developing a puzzled look.
Naomi continued, "It's like...I've been having dreams. The dreams are of things that happened; things I couldn't possibly know about. I've seen you in them...and a girl. I'm pretty sure she's Yuna. At first, I wasn't sure about what the dreams meant, but as you told me about your past, I began to connect things in the dreams with your stories. Yunalesca, Sin, Auron, and the rest; they were all there. I almost feel grateful for these dreams because they've helped me grow closer with you...but I can't help but question what they mean and what this connection I have with Yuna is."
Tidus paused for a moment, taking everything his love said in and carefully mulling it over. He finally replied, "I just don't know...there's so many things that have yet to be answered. I don't think we can spend the rest of our time together focused on them. It's no way to live..."
"You're right, but we can't just ignore it completely Tidus," the mage answered, staring intensely into the man's kind eyes. "There's obviously something bigger at play here and I need to know what it is."
"I understand," Tidus began, gazing back at Naomi just as strongly, "I really do, but this relationship, this love this important too. I love you more than I've ever loved anything...and I won't lose that to things in the past. I agree, finding out what this connection you have to her means is a priority, but now everything is out in the open. Maybe now it won't eat away at us like it did before."
"Maybe you're right," Naomi replied, her voice elevating in tone, "Maybe putting this on the back burner for now is the best approach. I'm not sure..."
Tidus shook his head softly and stated, "Well I am sure. These dreams are obviously mean something. You are working at the Academy, the best possible place to find out about things like this, after all. I think that, for now, we should focus more on us and our family; the things that are right here with us."
"Vincent," Naomi couldn't help but ponder, "Why haven't I been considering him? I've been so wrapped up in my issues that I haven't thought about what's most important for our family. Finding Vincent and keeping this family together should be on my mind..."
Naomi looked back at her love and smiled, nodding; an unspoken agreement between the two. Shortly after, the lovers took one another into a warm embrace. After pulling away the couple gazed lovingly at one another for a moment, absorbing the final moments of their night together. Quickly blushing after remembering their exposure, Naomi and Tidus turned and faced away from one another, beginning to get dressed; neither one could help but take a playful peek.
Once done, the couple walked hand and hand towards the door of the room, smelling the wonderful aroma of Miyo's breakfast. With one of the most important moments in their lives having just taken place, now one of the most important chapters in the couple's future was finally beginning.

Vincent stirred as he began to awake from his slumber, and he let out a weary groan. Sitting up in the bed, his tiresome eyes adjusted to the morning light in the room, and to his surprise, Skye was not present in the bed nor was she in the room. Rubbing the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger, the Turk was silent as he recalled the dreams in which plagued his head while he had slept during the night. The most prominent figures that came to mind was a winged beast, dark and menacing in appearance, whose chest glowed with a mysterious, striking orb. Bearing its teeth and extending its arms forth, the man recalled the creature well, and its image still remained in his head.
There was also a woman, as Vincent recalled, who had a beautiful face, and while her face attempted to produce a smile, her eyes lingered in remorse and sadness as she gazed into the distance. She spoke only once, and in a soft sob, she stated clearly, "I'm so sorry." Her image faded, and darkness was all that endured.
Suddenly, another figure appeared, apparently a female; however, her face was shrouded in darkness, and her feminine form was all that was visible. "Vincent," his mind recalled that she whispered to him; the voice was still very vivid in his head. "Please... Come back to us." Once again, the figure vanished into the dark abyss, and the man could recall no more.
"Who are you?" he questioned in a soft whisper, looking about the room. The man released a sigh as he shifted to the side of the large bed, and his eyes darted to the ceiling as he allowed his mind to dwell in thought once again. "I know I've seen here before. I must have. But... where?"

Kikyo woke up abruptly, noticing Jiro staring at her from across the room, already fully dressed. It made her a little uncomfortable, so she asked, "What are you doing?"
"Watching you sleep," Jiro replied kindly. "And waiting for you to get up."
"Why?" Kikyo continued, still a little groggy.
"Because I'm so anxious for your constant nagging," the former Fuwa spy replied with a smirk. "Nah, just wanted to tell you hi."
Jiro got up and walked over towards the small room's window. This alerted Kikyo.
"What're you doing now??" she questioned.
Jiro looked backed to her and opened the window, already beginning to climb through before the priestess could stop him. "Going for a run," he said.
"A run?" she asked curiously.
"Yeah, I do this a lot, even back when I was a spy. Always liked to get the jump on things, y'know? Pump myself up for the day. I go out the window so I don't alarm anyone. Got a late start today, so it probably doesn't matter, but old habits die hard, right?" he answered.
"Yeah, I guess," Kikyo replied, a little surprised by this.
Now completely outside of the room and glancing back at the young woman, Jiro grinned and said, "See ya at breakfast with the others, okay?"
"Alright," she responded with a warm smile. The young man closed the window and began to jog away. "Hm...very curious," she thought. "He's never told me about this before...guess another one of his secrets; this time, it's a nice one. That's relieving."
The priestess forced herself out of bed, changing into her daily robes. Once out in the hallway, she caught the sight of Miyo in the kitchen up ahead. "Good morning," she called out.

Wiping her brow, Miyo turned as she heard the priestess' kindly greeting; she responded with a typical, cheerful smile. "Oh, good morning, Kikyo," the woman happily replied before resuming cooking breakfast. "Hey, where's Jiro? He's usually by your side at this time in the morning."
Crossing her arms and leaning against the wall, Miyo's friend shot a smirk, and a chuckle escaped her lips. "He went out the window," she announced bluntly, continuing her rare action of laughing. "You just missed him, actually."
The woman's eyes shot wide open, and she nearly sliced her finger with the cutting knife upon hearing of the teenager's whereabouts. She turned her head once again toward Kikyo whose smirk grew twice as large. "What?" she questioned. The priestess simply nodded in reply as she allowed her friend to ponder.

"That guy is really weird," Kohana said, standing on her tiptoes to peak at the food Miyo was preparing. "What kinda person climbs out the window?"
"Jiro, apparently," Kikyo said with a smile. "The food smells wonderful, Miyo. Where are Tidus and Naomi?"
Miyo cleared her throat and silently gazed over at the couple kissing further down the hallway. Shortly after exiting the room, Tidus had pinned his girlfriend to the wall and they had been romantically locked ever since.
"Ewww, why are they doing that?" Kohana said with a cringed face.
The couple blushed and quickly pulled apart, staring awkwardly back at the group in the kitchen. Miyo and Kikyo couldn't help but giggle. Naomi and Tidus rushed down through the hallway hand in hand and past the group of girls. Naomi was quite embarrassed and managed to mutter, "Sorry."
Miyo smiled and replied, "No, don't worry about it. By all means, go at it, you two deserve it."
The couple glanced at one another and blushed even more.

Taking a seat at the table, both Kikyo and Kohana sat themselves down as the two lovers followed suite. "So, where's Jiro?" Tidus asked, exchanging glances with Naomi who, like her boyfriend, had a most inquisitive look upon her face. "He's usually first at the table."
"He's out," Kikyo retorted, leaning her head upon her hand resting on the table. "He said he's off running around the place, apparently."
The magen teacher's lips pursed as she allowed the thought to sink in. "Pardon?" she inquired. "Tidus and I were in the hallway for the past few minutes, and we haven't seen Jiro. How'd he get out of the house?"
"The window," the priestess and child said in unison, looking in opposite directions. They quickly turned their heads to one another, and they both began to giggle at their simultaneous actions.
"Kikyo, could you give me a hand?" Vincent's former love asked as she carried a large plate piled with eggs into the dining area. Willing, the priest nodded and aided the young woman as she entered the kitchen. Placing the steaming plate upon the table, Miyo smiled as she looked to the others awaiting her prepared meal. "Could one of you go get Jiro from outside? Breakfast is ready."

"I'll do it," Tidus said while raising his hand in the air a bit. "Where do you think he ran off to?"
"Probably not far." Kikyo answered.
Tidus leaned over and kissed Naomi lightly on the cheek. The couple smiled and gazed into each others eyes for a moment, before Tidus got up and walked towards the front door. He turned back and winked just before going outside. Naomi blushed again.

Stepping outside, the Blitzball player drew in a fresh breath of the morning, and his eyes gazed about the area as he took in the serene environment around him. Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of Jiro as he collapsed underneath the cooling shade of a tall tree. Smirking, Tidus approached his friend, his arms to his chest, and he let out a laugh, stating, "It's kinda hot out, isn't it?"
Retorting with a scheming smile of his own, the teenager sat up against the bark of the tree, and he pursed his lips before deciding what to say. "I'm sure it was hot last night, too, right?" the former spy joked with a chuckle. His conniving green eyes met with his friend's, and his devious smirk widened. "I'm guessing you and Naomi had loads of fun last night."
Blushing with embarrassment, the man scratched the back of his neck uneasily, and his eyes fell to the ground as he attempted to collect an answer. "If you mean talking, then yes, w-we... had a lot of fun," he stuttered, chewing his lip. He raised his head to Jiro who had already submerged himself in laughter.
"If you count all that moaning and groaning, then I'm sure you did," the young man replied, hitting his knee while drowning himself in his cackling. Tidus' face suddenly became a bright red, and he attempted to look away from his snickering friend. Gaining his composure, Jiro finally wiped his brow of the sweat from his morning jog. "Sheesh, you've got to see your face! Lighten up, pal!" Letting out another quick chortle, the teenager continued, "You frisky boy, you. Aren't we the little player of group?"

Emitting a slightly antagonized groan, Tidus' hand met with his forehead as he raised his eyes to the sky. "Jecht help me," he muttered under his breath. Crossing his arms, he offered a fiery glance toward his teenager friend, and a sudden counter came to mind. Sneering, he chortled before continuing, "At least I get some action. What about you, Jiro?"
The young man's face flustered, and he cleared his throat before his eyes darted about the area. His brow furrowed while looking upon Tidus' smirking expression. "Fine, I see how it is," he replied, finally standing. The teenager's hands found their place to his hips as he produced a smug look upon his face. "We can yap all day, but it takes a real man to settle this. I'm talking about a battle! What do you say?"
Gaining a serious demeanor, the man raised a brow, and he nodded with approval. "Sounds like an idea," he responded, clenching his fists; a tinge of enthusiasm ran through his being. "Fine, I'll get my sword and we can finish this."
Jiro's serious attitude suddenly lightened as a sheepish grin crossed his face, and the teenager scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, about that," he began, his voice trailing off, "I'm sure you've noticed by now, but I really don't have a sword or anything like you." His friend gained a wild, perplexed expression, and yet again, his hand slapped his forehead. Clapping his hand together, the young man developed a cheerful sneer as he thought of an idea. "Hey! I've got a plan! Don't they have a weapons shop in town? Why don't we go check it out? Y'know, man to man bonding!"

Tidus donned a most peculiar grimace as he looked upon his friend. "Shopping," the man repeated. "Shopping? You're serious?" The teenager's grin grew as he nodded in contentedness. "That's right," he retorted, placing his hand behind his head. "Come on, you know it'll be fun! We'll just sneak off and head on down to town. Then, once you buy my weapon, we'll finish our little brawl as soon as we get back. How's that sound?" Sighing and shaking his head, the man from Zanarkand hung his head. "I'll never understand your logic, Jiro," he muttered, gazing at the ground. After a moment, he looked up to meet eye to eye with his younger friend, and a glint of devious intention was evident. "But, if it's to tie our loose ends, then that's fine by me. The girls are having breakfast inside, so we better leave them a note."
"Playing it safe, huh? Hm, I respect that," Jiro said with a smirk, pulling out a piece of parchment and and a pen-like, wooden mechanism.
"Why do you keep a piece of paper and pen on you?" Tidus questioned with a curious expression.
"Oh, it's just that sometimes I might see a magnificent red bird soaring across the sky and realize that there's just so much beauty in the world that I have to take down a detailed record of every precious moment spent living--what the heck do you think for, wise guy? General spy tip: be alert to your surroundings and write down everything you see that seems suspicious or thought provoking. That and writing girls' address... and for situations like this, a'course."
Tidus and Jiro stared at each other intensely for a few moments before Tidus finally broke out into laughter. After collecting himself and noting the unamused expression on his friend's face, he replied, "Sorry, that's very reasonable Jiro, and handy."
The former spy beamed and began to scribble something down on the parchment. Jiro bit his lip and scratched his head a few times before extending the letter out and squinted to read it. He stood back and grinned, handing it over to Tidus, stating, "There, perfect."
Tidus held it before him. It read:
Dear dames,
We went to the square for some manly-man bonding. Y'know, weapons and junk; nothing you gals would be interested in. We'll be back in a little bit and we expect you to keep our breakfasts warm, ya hear? Every man needs his daily energy and he needs his woman to fill that requirement. After all, it's not like you all have anything better to do than keep us happy.
Love, Jiro & Tidus AKA Manly Men
P.S. Our rank clothes are stinkin' up the place by now, so better wash 'em while we're out.
Tidus stared, bewildered, for a moment. He finally managed to say, "Jiro...you can't put that man. You have to change it."
Jiro rolled his eyes and sighed, snatching the parchment back from him and replying, "Fine, fine, 'From Jiro and Tidus'."
The blond-haired man quickly took the paper back and grabbed Jiro's makeshift pen as well. He soon crossed out Jiro's letter and replaced it with his own on the backside. He handed it back to the young man.
After skimming over it, Jiro shook his head with shame and responded, "Gotta tell ya man, this 'play-it-safe' technique of yours is getting old. Don't be such a wuss, woman love that whole domination thing."
Jiro elbowed his friend in this side playfully, which was met with a blank expression from the Blitzer. Tidus lowered his head and said, "Whatever you say Jiro. Come on, let's get going."
"Awesome," he exclaimed with a grin. Jiro rushed over to the house's front door and wedged the now folded note in the knocker. He ran back over to Tidus, who gripped his head in a neck-lock, furiously scalding the top Jiro's head with his knuckles.
"Knock it off, will ya?" Jiro shouted, struggling free of Tidus' grip. "Save that attitude for the fight."
Tidus chuckled and replied, "Sure thing. After our little duel I can finally teach you how to play Blitzball."
Jiro blushed and nervously said, "Heh...yeah...I had hoped you forgot about that."
The two pals headed down the path which lead towards the village square, joking with one another as they often did along the way.

With the table full of food and four females at the table, the women continued to wait for the guys to come back from outside. "Can we eat now? I'm hungry." Kohana whined holding up her utensils in an upright position. "I mean, I know we're still waiting for those two to come back but the food is going to get cold."
"Where could those two have gone?" Miyo asked as she noticed the steam from the breakfast disappearing. "Something doesn't seem right."
"Tidus should have found him by now." Naomi said uncertain of what happened to the men. "Do you think we should go see where they went off to?"
"I say we eat first!" Kohana said as she reached for some eggs. "We need our strength, right?"

Kikyo wiped her mouth with her napkin, having just finished her plate. She replied, "That's okay, I'm done. How about I go see where they are?"
"Well, if you don't mind Kikyo, alright," Miyo responded, before taking another bite of her breakfast.
Kohana began, "Whoa, you eat really fast--" but was cut off by Kikyo dismissing herself from the table. Miyo gave her younger a stern look and the girl crossed her arms in a huff. "What? I was just saying. ..."
As the priestess put on her outer layer of robes, she walked towards the house's front door and opened it, finding something she didn't expect. A piece of paper had fallen to the ground below and she leaned down to pick it up.
Returning inside, she unfolded the note and read aloud,
"Dear Miyo, Kikyo, Naomi, and Kohana,
Jiro and I have gone to the Village to purchase weapons in order to have a friendly sparring session. Afterwards, we plan on playing Blitzball. You're all welcome to come along and we'll be back around mid-morning to escort you to the lake if you wish to join us. See you soon!
Sincerely, Tidus & Jiro AKA Manly Men
P.S. Jiro made me write that."

"Well, mystery solved, I suppose," Kikyo said with a blank expression, shrugging and moving over to the living area. She sat down on the couch and stared out of the window.
"I swear, men and their 'friendly competitions," Miyo said, shaking her head, "It's so childish."
"Do we even know where this lake is that they're talking about?" Kikyo questioned.
Naomi answered, "Well, I assume he meant the one by the Academy..." A tone of uncertainty loomed in her voice. She wasn't sure if dropping in unannounced again would be a good idea.
"Oh cool, I can't wait to go again!" Kohana exclaimed cheerfully, her words jumbled since she was still eating. A wide grin grew on the young girl's face. "That place is so amazing."
"It really is a sight to see," Miyo remarked. "But the question is, what should we do until then?"

"Well, I'm not certain about the rest of you, but I'm off for some tea," Kikyo answered, standing from her seat on the couch. She looked to her friends and offered a nod before walking over to the front door.
"Wait!" the youngest of the group, Kohana, interjected, food flew out of her mouth. "Where are you going, Kikyo?"
The priestess gave the child a small smile, stating, "I'm going to see Rose today. It's been about a week since I've last seen her. I haven't visited her for a while, so I suppose I'll be off."
Miyo raised a curious brow, and she began to gather everyone's empty plates. "Rose...? The elderly woman that lives in town?" Vincent's former love asked before walking into the kitchen. "When will you be coming back then?" Placing the plates down on the counter, she continued to tread from the kitchen to the dining area as she began to clean the table.
Kikyo shrugged and leaned against the wall; her eyes darted to the ceiling above. "I'm not really sure," she confessed, reaching for the doorknob, "but I'll be back before Jiro and Tidus return. I'll see you all later, alright?" Without another word, the priestess opened the wooden egress, and she proceeded outside.

Naomi lightly bit her fingernails anxiously, not sure what she should do. It wouldn't be right to spoil everyone's fun, but she couldn't risk the Academy being exposed either. Her eyes lit up as she finally came up with a solution.
"Hey Miyo?" she questioned carefully. "Maybe Kohana and I could go ahead to the Academy. The more time she spends getting used to the place the better. After all, she'll most likely be staying in the dormitories during each term."
Miyo considered this for moment, placing the dishes into the kitchen's sink-like tub. Finally, as she began to fill it with water from their small indoor tap, she replied, "Sure...I guess that'd be fine. It's important that she feel at home there."
Miyo turned to find her younger sister, beginning, "Hey Kohana--"
She soon noticed that Kohana was already outside and calling back, "I heard you talking. Come on Naomi, let's go!"
The two women chuckled and Naomi waved goodbye to her friend and exited outside, leading Kohana away from their home. Miyo smiled solemnly, glad that everyone would be enjoying their day, but sad that it meant she was being left alone.
