Vincent closed his eyes and took in a sniff of the food before him. "Smells great, Miyo," he said opening his eyes after a moment. The man smiled and gazed at the meal before him. He eyed a piece of meat then glanced over at the hostess. His eyes lit up and he pulled out a chair for the young woman. "Come on, love. It's not a meal without you."

Miyo's heart felt touched by Vincent's words. She smiled and took a seat. "For the first time, I feel like Kohana and I have a real family. It's always been us two here, I'm sure you two have been alone as well. But we could stay here together."
"I'll like that." Kikyo replied grabbing some bread. "As long as I don't attract anymore mentally deranged people. I would like to have a little peace."
"You'll get a lot of that here." Miyo smile putting food on her plate. "Once in a while things happen; like you two coming here and the others or demons roaming around but other than that you'll love it."
"Demons you say?" Kikyo smirked. "I've slayed lots of demons so there's no problem there. I'm sure that Vincent as done some killing and saving as well. Am I right?"

Vincent crossed his arms and smirked. "You could say that," he said as he leaned back in his chair. The man glanced over at Miyo then over to Kikyo. "I've had over forty years of experience with guns and I've fought in the Jenova war and the Battle of the Tseivets. I'm sure I can keep you ladies safe from harm."

"Wow, he's really been through a lot. I wonder how old he really is.." Miyo thought. "I wish I knew more about his life, but I guess he'll tell me when it's time to."
Kikyo smirked as she looked back at Vincent. "Guns? Jenova war? You are from a different world."
Kohana turned to Vincent and asked, "Did you have a place like this? Was there war all the time? Are you old? You don't look old to me..."
"Kohana!? Where are your manners!!" Miyo shouted a little turning quickly over to Vincent. "I'm so sorry about her. She tends to get really curious about almost everyone she talks to."

Vincent smiled and glanced over at Miyo. "It's alright, love; she's just curious," the man said as he looked over to the young girl. "I have seen many battles in my lifetime, Kohana, and they're all battles I wish I shouldn't have fought in. I've seen many lives lost and I've seen people I know die before my eyes. A war is never a pretty site, and it's a harsh world I come from."
The Turk lowered his head and put his hands behind his neck. "And about my age," he said with a brief pause as he sheepishly grinned, "I'm actually sixty years old..."

"Sixty!?!" Kohana gasped. "But you look a little older than Miyo."
"Is it the stuff that's in your body?" Miyo said softly. "I remember what you did to that girl the other day...is that what sustains your life?"

Vincent nodded and crossed his arms once more. "Indeed, it is," the man said raising his head toward the ceiling. "They're called Jenova cells, and these cells are small life forms that provide me with the energy to live on. It's both a second chance at life... and a curse..."
"The only reason I look twenty seven years old is because that was my age during my first death," he continued as he looked down at Kohana. "The Jenova cells are keeping me in eternal youth, and I'll look like this until the day of my second, and hopefully final, death."

After a brief moment of silence, Miyo glanced over to Vincent then looked down at her food. "I see. I'm glad that you have a second chance at life." Miyo said softly. The young woman then looked up at Vincent with sincere eyes and placed her hand on top of his. "I never would have met a wonderful person that cares for my family and loves me the way that I am..."
"But I could never see life as a curse." Miyo said speaking up a little. "Even with all the bad in the world, there's the same amount of good, maybe even more."

Vincent showed off a small smile and looked into her gentle eyes. "It's people like you that make me want to live on, Miyo," he said with honesty and love within his intense red eyes. After a few seconds, his eyes saddened and he brought his hand in his lap."But... there's another side to me that none of you know about. It's a dark side that rips me apart on the inside. I hope... that you never have to see that part of me."

"If that time ever comes, we will prepare ourselves." Miyo replied with confidence. Kikyo nodded in agreement as Kohana looked up at Vincent and smiled.
After a while, Kikyo excused herself from the table to go rest for a while. Kohana finished up her food and when back to the garden again. "I'm glad Kikyo came back safe." Miyo said putting stuff away. "I wonder if she had any family or friends. Do you know Vincent?"

Vincent turned toward Miyo and shrugged. "I'm not sure," he said as he leaned back in his chair. The man sighed and crossed his arms. "But I can feel mourning and pain in the depths of her soul. I don't know what it is, but it's this feeling I have..."

"Well she seems much more mature than her age. Maybe she had to grow up quickly. She needs a little fun that's all." Miyo replied smiling a little. She finished putting everything away and gently grabbed Vincent's hand. "Come with me to the garden?"
The Turk placed the young girl's hand into his and together they walked out to the garden. "I love coming out here. It's so relaxing and makes anyone feel at ease." Miyo said taking in a deep breath of fresh air. The breeze flowing freely through her hair as they felt a calm aura surrounding them. She looked over to Vincent and noticed him looking over at the gazebo. "Have you been to the gazebo yet?"
"No I haven't." Vincent replied looking over to Miyo still holding her hand. "Kohana showed me it this morning when we came out here. You're right about this garden, I do feel a ease, anyone would feel that way."
Miyo gave a tiny grin and began to walk toward the gazebo with Vincent. When they reached it, Vincent saw that there was an outdoor onsen (japanese bath) beside it with fresh water flowing into it, traveling to the small pond. They saw that Kohana was over at the flower garden playing with the petals of the flowers. Vincent faced to Miyo and said to her, "This place is really amazing. I've never seen anything like this before."
"What's mine is yours." Miyo replied happily and placed her arms around his shoulders. "You'll be able to see this place everyday if you want."
"I'd love that." Vincent said looking deeply into her eyes, bring her closer to him. "I'd come here and you can join me everyday, my love."
Miyo blushed a little and looked into Vincent's loving eyes. She began to feel a like she was in a daze and couldn't believe that everything was so perfect at that very moment. "He's everything that I dreamed of." Miyo thought. "My heart says that we'll fight through any troubles that comes along the way and live happily ever after."

Vincent smirked and drew Miyo even closer to him. He picked up his hand and lightly caressed the side of her face. The man was silent for a long moment and continued to gaze into his love's eyes. "I love you," he reminded her as lightly kissed her on the lips. "I promise you this, Miyo : no matter how much we may argue and no matter how far apart we may be, I will always love you."

Miyo felt the energy from Vincent's hand and the warmth of his body flowing through hers and closed her eyes. "I'll always love you too Vincent, no matter what happens." she replied opening her eyes again. "It's like we've been together in another life; like we're connected somehow."
After she said that she gave the love of her life a light kiss, followed by an intense impassioned one. "Your heart is so precious to me Vincent." Miyo thought. "I'll never lose your love."

Vincent pulled Miyo against his body and continued to press his lips against hers. The man breathed once, and his breath was a moan, and his heart was filled the desire to be even closer to her. After several moments, he retracted his lips and held the young woman tightly in his arms.
"I never want to let go of you, Miyo," he whispered to her. "I want to keep you in my arms forever. I want to be even closer to you, and I want to share your love forever."

The young woman rested her head on Vincent's chest as a tear of happiness fell down her cheek. "I do too." she whispered back. "Always and forever."

Vincent smiled and wiped away the young woman's tear. He continued to hold her in his arms and he stroked the side of her face. "Always and forever," he repeated softly. "Miyo... I'll love you, whatever comes our way. I promise this to you from the bottom of my heart."
Suddenly, the man's ears perked, and there was rustling coming from the trees of the forest. Vincent scanned about the area and saw nothing in view, but he felt the presence of other eyes upon him and Miyo. "Get out of here," he whispered to his love. "Get Kohana and go back to the house. It's not safe here; hurry, Miyo!"

Miyo glanced over to Vincent and saw that he was concerned for Kohana and her in his eyes but was also seemed irritated about something. She quickly grabbed Kohana and went inside the house. "Why you do that Miyo!" Kohana whinned in the house. "I was having fun!"
"Vincent says that it's not safe out there." Miyo replied catching her breath a little. "Help me close any openings in the house."
Kohana nodded as they went to each room closing the windows, cover them with curtains, securing the front and back door, then finally waking up Kikyo.
The young priestess groaned and got up rubbing her eyes. She noticed Miyo and Kohana looking at her and said, "What's going on?"
"Something is wrong." Miyo said going to the window. Luckly it was facing the garden so she peeked outside, seeing Vincent looking around cautiously and holding Cerberus in his hand. "Vincent is out there now checking things out."
~~~
Meanwhile at the edge of the forest, a large group of men, called the Fuwa Clan were ready for an attack of the few houses they thought would have worthy items. The Fuwa Clan is known for going from village to village causing trouble, stealing valuables, and taking women away from their loved ones and homes. The leader of the Fuwa Clan, Ryo Itashi, started out as a thief around seventeen years old and for 10 years he worked his way up.
One of his spies reported the night before the festival, that they witnessed a man saving a girl's life with some sort of energy coming inside his body. Ryo being greedy and self-absorbed with power, had his men to set out and find the guy and to bring him back along with any other rare treasures....
As Vincent ensured that Miyo and Kohana were indoors, the man began to scan about the surrounding forest and held Cerberus tightly in his hand. His ears perked to the sound of breathing and the delicate stirring of leaves among the trees and Vincent felt the presence of a group of men. His head suddenly whipped around and he quickly caught glance of a single body landing on a branch. Within the second, the Turk lifted Cerberus and a single shot erupted from the gun.
The spy fell to the ground stunned from the bullet that had penetrated his leg. He let out a howl of pain and he attempted to scramble to his feet. As Vincent watched the fallen man slowly rise to his feet after several moments, he suddenly felt a tinge of pain and his shoulder was pouring with fresh blood. The Turk groaned as he plucked a small bullet in his arm, and he tossed it aside. With Cerberus ready at hand, he was ready for the threat of an attack.
Vincent looked up to the trembling spy standing weakly before him and he gave him a glare as cold as ice. "So," he said as he took a step toward him, "where are your friends?"
"Vincent's hurt! We have to help him." Miyo spoke as she was getting up to go to the door. "I don't want him to get killed."
"Wait a minute." Kikyo replied grabbing Miyo's arm. "He has everything under control. Vincent will be able to handle the situation. Just have faith in him."
"Faith." Miyo thought looking at Kohana on the bed. She sat down next to her younger sister and smiled. "Kikyo is right, I know that he'll know what to do."
Meanwhile the young boy stood in front of Vincent terrified of what would happen next. Trying to stand up to the Turk, he takes out a small knife and hold it up to Vincent. "It just me you fiend." the boy shouted, "I'm Jiro, part of the Fuwa clan. Give me your valuables and I won't harm you."
At the forest, the other clan members looked at each other. "What the hell is that boy doing?" one member whispered. "He wants to put our clan out in the open! That foolish boy will have trouble to pay!"
