"Yes," Vincent solemnly said, "I do. There was a giant vortex that brought me here."
"Ah," Arnia said, "Well, it says those brought through this rift will be faced with a great danger that will continued to plague them until finally defeated."
Vincent's eyes widened a bit and he looked at the scroll. "What? he asked once more as he took another step toward Arnia. "How is this possible? I... I can't believe it. He was right..." The man looked upon the scroll and advanced towards Arnia once more.

The shrine keeper started reading it following each line with her index finger. "It also says that the will face great loss to triumph; most likely a reference to," she paused, "Death."
After a moment she looked over to Vincent who was now beside her. She saw that he was in great thought. "I'm not completely sure what's going to happen but I do want to help you." she said touching his shoulder. "I'll find some way to get more answers but this is all I have here."

Vincent looked at Arnia's hand upon his shoulder and nodded. "Thank you," he said softly. "Maybe I should tell Miyo about this...it might concern her..." He began to slowly walk away and he turned his back to Arnia.

"Wait!" Arnia said pulling Vincent toward her. "I know that you want to tell Miyo, but what do you think she could do? She doesn't know much about this and I may be the only one that could help you. You want to protect her don't you?"
Suddenly, Miyo walked into the building holding up some tea. "I saw a teapot in a small building just outside with a stove. I already had some herbs, so I made a beverage. It's honey mandarin flower tea." she said smiling and looking down at it. "I thought you two might like it."

Vincent looked down and thought about Arnia's words. I want to protect her, he said to himself as he looked up at Miyo. More than anything.
The man nodded and gently took the tea from the young woman. "Thank you, Miyo," he said to her softly. "I'm sure it tastes great." He was silent and then smiled at her.

Miyo looked up and couldn't help but smile. "It does." she replied giving some to Arnia. "Here, I'm sure that you'll like it too."
Arnia placed a fake smile on her face and replied to Miyo, "I've had it before, didn't care for it. Sorry. Now if you will excuse us, we haven't finished our discussion."

Vincent glanced over his shoulder at Arnia and looked back to Miyo. He gently placed a hand on her shoulder and nodded. "I guess she's right," he said with a shrug. "You go on, and I'll catch up later. Don't worry about me, alright?"

"Are you sure?" Miyo replied moving closer to him. "I'm not sure I like the sound of all of this. It seems so secretive, what's going on?"
"There's nothing to really worry about Miyo." Arnia replied to her. "I was just telling Vincent about what I read."

"I'll be alright," Vincent said in a soft tone as he set his cup of tea down and then put his other hand on her opposite shoulder. "You know I can watch out for myself and I'm armed. Arnia and I will figure all of this out."
"Trust me, Miyo," he whispered to her. He placed a hand under her chin and he presented her with a warm smile.

Miyo blushed and looked up at Vincent. "Ok Vincent, I'll be in the other building with Kohana." Miyo smiled shyly. "Just tell me what you need and I'll bring it to you."

Vincent smiled and nodded. "Alright," he said as he watched Miyo walk away. He couldn't help but bear his grin, and after she walked out of the building, he sighed and looked toward the woman behind him.
"Arnia," the man said as he walked over to her. "I think we need to find anything related to this scroll. Any ideas?"

Miyo left the building and felt a little down. "I'm worried." she thought. "I have strange feeling about her."
She made it to the other building where Kohana was eating some food. "I don't like that lady." Kohana said aloud. "She scared me."
"I'm sure that she didn't mean to." Miyo replied.
"She did!" Kohana shouted. "She doesn't like us and I don't like her." Miyo looked at her younger sister and sighed. "Now Kohana," Miyo replied. "She's trying to help Vincent." Miyo was unsure of it herself.
Meanwhile, Arnia gave a warm smile to Vincent and replied, "I've yet to see a scroll related to this one, but I'm sure that there's something here." She read the rest of the same scroll aloud saying, "There's something about a dark energy that is consumed by light destined to warn the soldier of coming tides." She then looked over to Vincent and asked, "What do you think that means?"

Vincent looked down and was silent for a moment. The man placed a hand on his chin and then leaned against the wall. "It sounds familiar," he said as he crossed his arms and closed his eyes. The Turk was silent for a another long moment then spoke again.
"Could it be? Maybe it's a reference to the hooded figure that was telling me about the danger ahead, the one who asked you about me," he continued. "I wonder how I could find him..."

Arnia looked at her scroll and sighed. "If you're destined to, you're destined to. A scroll doesn't have to tell you that." she replied moving closer to Vincent. "If this danger is real, I'm sure that you'll need someone to protect you."

Vincent shook his head. "No, I can protect myself," he said as he placed a hand on Cerberus. He looked up at Arnia and then turned his head away. "Every time someone tries to help me, they wind up getting hurt or killed. I can't allow that to happen."
The man took a deep breath and gave out a long sighed. "Besides, I used to be a Turk, and I've been trained to use this gun properly and offensively," he continued. "And with Jenova energy inside of me, I can overcome anything."

"I want to see what they're talking about!!" Kohana said to Miyo. "Miyo can we spy on them?"
"No, that would be wrong for us to do that. Vincent said that he'll be ok and I trust him." Miyo replied cleaning up what they ate. "How about we get some sunlight before it goes down?" Kohana nodded at her older sister and stepped out of the shrine building. She stretched her arms as her sister followed and sat on the porch area. "I want to see what they're talking about too." Miyo thought. "I'm so worried that Vincent is so concerned with protecting us, he'd consider leaving us to do so."
Meanwhile, Arnia lightly touched Vincent's chin trying to turn his face to hers. "A turk?" she asked softly. "Jenova energy? Where do you come from?"

Vincent looked over at Arnia with his intense red eyes. "I prefer not to talk about my past," the man said as he closed his eyes once more. "Where I come from, my life is full of sorrow and sin, and I've been twisted into a creature. It's best not for you or anyone of this world to know."

Miyo sighed and looked at the other shrine building. "I know Vincent will be ok but I don't trust this Arnia girl." she thought. "Maybe I'll just go and check."
"You stay here Kohana, I'll be right back." Miyo said quietly walking toward the other building.
Instantly Kohana got up as started following her older sister but Miyo convinced her to stay where she was. Miyo tipped toed to the other building and quietly sat down beside the opened front door. She peeked inside and saw Arnia's hand on Vincent's face and her eyes widened.
"What creature? I see that you want to protect and save." Arnia replied to Vincent smiling. "I'm sure that if you were to stay with me, we'd be able to protect each other."

Vincent lowered his head. "I can't," he said with a soft voice. The man looked away and crossed his arms once more. "I couldn't allow you to protect me, Arnia. You'd be risking your life. Besides, I promised someone that I would protect them. And I'm not one to break a promise."

After hearing what Vincent said, both Arnia and Miyo gasped at the same time. Arnia looked at Vincent then turned away saying, "I could care less about my life. I've lived here alone since I was young. The elders of the village picked me to be the shrine keeper and left me here until my years were up. When I saw you, I knew something was different about you. I'm sure that if I could protect someone then I'll know that I have fulfilled something in my life."
