LAWD. I'm DYING for this game. XDD It's the prelude to Final Fantasy VII, starring Zack Fair, and it's coming out in March this year. It looks incredible, and it's coming out on the PSP. Owooo! XDDD

I don't think I'll get it. I mean, I'm not that huge of an FFVII to begin with. After playing Dirge of Cerberus, I realize how bad these spin-offs can be. According to the magazine, it sounds like it's just as bad.

Well, although you're not really a fan, a lot of avid fans, including myself, would enjoy the game. As for DoC, I actually liked it. The controls were comfortable, and the plot was rather creative. Gameplay is an important aspect and all, but honestly, cutscenes make the game, especially in Final Fantasy. The gameplay can be great, but if the plot sucks, then what's the point? I'm sure that being the prequel to FFVII, Crisis Core should have some important kick ass cutscenes. XDD

What's a game without good gameplay, even if the storyline is good? The storyline needs to be interesting enough to keep you caring about the game, but if you're into really epic ones, that's what movies and books are for. The main point of a game is to play it and that's difficult to enjoy doing if the gameplay is below average, no matter how good the story may be. I myself found Dirge of Cerberus' to have a fine storyline, but the controls were very difficult to manage, along with camera angels and although customization was involved, it didn't seem to matter very much. I agree that a Final Fantasy without a good story wouldn't be enjoyable, but it still needs to have good, even great, gameplay, as previous installments in the series have managed.

Well, that could be your opinion, but I was more concerned about the plot than the game. It's not that way for everyone, as we can clearly see, but I'm sure that many die hard Final Fantasy VII fans wouldn't mind difficult controls. I mean, I'm not a big gamer, but I was able to complete DoC in about twenty three hours.
As for other installments, we can all pretty much agree that Final Fantasy has had incredibly successful plots and simultaneous gameplay. Some can be a total flop, and I believe that it's the plot that has dragged it down. However, from my basic understand, the original FFVII has a great plot, and because of these spin-offs, the plot becomes deeper and more defined.
Back on topic though, I believe that the character Genesis is beginning to gain my interest. We first see him in the conclusion to Dirge of Cerberus, and now, he's a renegade SOLDIER and close acquaintance to Angeal and Sephiroth in Crisis Core. Any thoughts or ideas?

We first see him in the conclusion to Dirge of Cerberus, and now, he's a renegade SOLDIER and close acquaintance to Angeal and Sephiroth in Crisis Core. Any thoughts or ideas? Like I've already said, a great plot is important, but good gameplay is the most needed aspect in a video game. I've no doubt that hardcore fans would trudge through it for the storyline; just look at the GI review. However, why play a game just for its storyline? Wouldn't be easier to get the cutscenes by other means? Why didn't they make it a movie like Advent Children? If the story is all that should matter, what's he point of having gameplay in the first place? Square Enix and its players should be more concerned with getting a good gaming experience out of it than anything else. Take the leveling system for example. I understand the intention to spice up the standard RPG composition, but to me it seems like adding just another gimmick. The button-combo gameplay seems downright lazy; another reason my theory of the game being a money maker is SE's only concern. Imo, these spin-off games are turning into another gaming novelty, no better than the Xbox 360 games offered at Burger King. It seems like a slap to the face for true gamers. As for Genesis, the only thing I know about him is he's played by Gackt. xDD

XDD So, I bought myself a PSP and Crisis Core, and I've played it for a total of, oh, maybe three hours. I must say, it's a killer game, imo. The graphics are just so... so sexy. XDD There's something about Zack that I just love, and dumbapples are making me giggle (game reference, play it). XDDD
It's pretty easy, too, and I'm not one for hard ass games. x__x;; For me, honestly, it's almost perfect, being a Final Fantasy fan and all. ;D

Bleh...it's horrible, imo. It completely relies on storyline, hardly focusing on decent game play. It's a simple button masher that isn't worth the wasted time, unlike the KH series and other similar "press X 100000 times!" titles. Although there are many options to explore for replay value, the missions and materia fusion are hardly satisfying. In short: don't buy, rent, but only if you're REALLY bored.
