Harry and Ron were careless when they took Mr. Weasley’s flying car at the beginning of their 2nd year. Not only did they crash into the Whomping Willow - they were also sighted by hundreds of muggles - and caught on camera by a very stunned cameraman for a TV station. Reports streamed to news stations across the country. There were simply too many muggles to modify memories of, and the Ministry found themselves in a serious dilemma. The only thing they could do was wait and hope that people would just dismiss it as a fake. Unfortunately, muggles started to question whether magic could really exist.
That was a year ago, and so much has happened since then. Muggles have fully come to believe in magic, and have started searching out witches, wizards, and magical creatures. For now they don’t know where the magical communities are, but it is like a ticking time bomb - eventually someone will slip up, and the muggles will find Diagon Alley and the other magical places.
Harry and Ron were nearly kicked out of Hogwarts for what they did, even though it was accidental. The only reason they are still there is because of Dumbledore. However, while Dumbledore and a few others may still believe in Harry, many have come to dislike Harry and Ron, and they have not had an easy time at Hogwarts. At first Hermione was furious with them, and refused to even speak to the two boys for well over a month. She has since made up with them, but things will never be the same between the Trio.
At the end of their 2nd year disaster struck again. Many people believed whole-heartedly that Harry was the one who had opened the Chamber of Secrets, and that he was the one behind the petrifications. Harry, Hermione, and Ron searched desperately for clues, but the pieces came together too late. Ginny was already taken into the Chamber by the young Riddle. Sure, Harry defeated the basilisk and Riddle, but it was too late for Ginny.
Ron was well beyond furious with Harry for not being able to save his little sister, and even now he refuses to talk to Harry, and even goes so far as to leave the room when Harry comes in, if possible. Hermione is once more caught in the middle, exasperated with trying to get Ron and Harry to make up.
What does this mean for everyone else though? Voldemorts followers are once again gathering - ever since the incident with the Sorcerers Stone. They’ve heard what has happened the last 2 years, and feel that it won’t be much longer until their Master regains his body. With muggles now aware of magic, their numbers have swelled - many who before didn’t mind muggles now can’t stand them, and because of this muggleborns are once again being targeted, along with muggles and anyone else who stands in the way of the Death Eaters.
Once again the Order is stirring - but they have not officially formed. They are still hoping against hope that the wizarding world won’t be plunged into war again, but with every day war draws closer. Attacks against those not with the newly-reformed Death Eaters are becoming more and more frequent, and it is rumored that Voldemort is close to gaining a body again, though no one knows how he is going to do it.
For now, all anyone can do is stand firm for what they believe in. Where will you stand? Will your hatred of muggles bring you into the ranks of the Death Eaters? Will you listen to the whispers of a reforming Order, and hope that it soon will reform?
Whatever the case, are you ready to deal with the consequences of Fatal Errors?
