Now some may joke and others may wish. However there is an old saying that said, "Be careful what you wish for you just might get it." What happens if Zac Efron is casted as Light and this movie makes him a break out sanation? Starting out as a Disney stooge and then perhaps landing a role in the Death Note movie. What would you do if Zac Efron really is casted as Light? For more funny pics, please visit... zacefroniskira.com/

Although Death Note's a big success among anime fans in America, a majority of the country has no idea of its existence. Per se, if Zac were to star in a movie like this, I doubt they'd ever get the license to actually make the film. Besides, I think I've mentioned that there was a live action version of Death Note already released in Japan.

I doubt it would be difficult for an American adaptation to be made... they remake just about every other Japanese film and outlet, so why not? I mean, come on, they're making that DBZ movie....
But as much as I'd hate to admit it, Effron really fits the look... though he'd be terrible in terms of acting. If looking the part was a major issue, then if anyone get Chris Lowell, he looks exactly like Zac Effron anyway and he's a far better actor.

Straight from Wiki, so looks like you were wrong Lia. And again, Chris Lowell is the infinitely greater version of Zac Efron, so if I had to choose between the two... but both would most likely be bad choices.
And does the L movie really count? I mean, is it supposed to be canon to the story?

Not too sure about that. Like, all of the original actors (from the first two live action films) reprise their roles as the characters, but then again, the movie L: Change The World contradicts facts from the manga. Fr'example, in the L movie, Near comes from Thailand and happens to be the only survivor from his village to survive a deadly virus. It clearly states his Thai heritage, but as fans know, Near later resides in Wammy's House in England, and his real name implies European descent.
So, imo, the L movie's a mere spin off, but of course, its true purpose is to elaborate the fandom of Death Note, whether it's canon or not. In many ways, the Death Note movie series itself is a questionable matter of canon.
